Canon Law National Office

WHO WE ARE

The Canon Law National Office was established by the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) in 2009. Its main purpose is to ensure the proper application of Canon Law for the good of the Church in Kenya.

Currently, the office also serves as the Child Protection Coordination Desk of KCCB.

The office oversees the administration of justice in the various ecclesiastical tribunals in the different ecclesiastical provinces of the Church in Kenya; offers canonical advisory services to KCCB; carries out trainings on topical issues as a contribution towards on-going formation of clergy and religious; it also champions the development and implementation of Policies in matters concerning Safeguarding of Minors and Vulnerable Persons in Kenya.

The office also works in collaboration with the leadership of the Canon Law Society of Kenya to organize conventions and fora for sensitization of pastoral agents on Canon Law.

  1. Reviewing the KCCB Safeguarding Policy Document
  2. Finalizing the KCCB Complementary Norms on various issues
  3. Formation/Training and education of pastoral agents on protection of minors and vulnerable persons.
